FAST growing downhole and monitoring specialists Zenith Oilfield Technology Ltd is premiering its ground breaking technology in South America.
The Aberdeenshire-based company has secured a number of land well trials with major oil operators who were impressed by the positive feedback that the company’s innovative well-monitoring Z-Sight device has gained internationally.
Formed in 2004, Zenith Oilfield Technology Ltd designs, assembles, and supports high-spec technology related to the gathering and analysis of downhole data and the design of completions equipment.
Zenith’s experts pioneered Z-Sight as a one-stop device for optimising and protecting artificially-lifted wells, taking artificial lift firmly into the future of the digital oilfield.
Julian Cudmore, New Technology Manager at Zenith said: “The South American trial is a fantastic opportunity for Zenith and we are excited at the prospects this new market may bring. The land well trails are expected to be completed in the coming few months and already it looks promising.”
The company will also be holding a series of technology showcases while they are working in South America. The first new technology seminar was held in Bogota, Columbia where operators were encouraged to engage in Q&A sessions about Zenith’s new releases. Z-Sight took centre stage at the seminar generating significant interest from the participants with its ability to perform automatic real time optimisation.
Cudmore explained the benefits of Z-Sight saying: “In the well lifting operations industry good information is vital to production optimisation and improving equipment runlife. Z-Sight provides an efficient management tool, in a one-look screen which provides real time recommendations on how best to operate the well to achieve optimum production within the limitations of the lifting equipment. The technology is a major step forward into the realms of the automated digital oilfield for the artificial lift branch of the oil industry.”
Z-Sight offers remote access and control through the web, giving operators complete control of their operations in an instant. They are immediately notified by e-mail or SMS when a well shuts down and production is being lost.
Cudmore added: “Already in well trials in the Middle East two unplanned well shut downs were instantly recognised using Z-Sight’s remote access, and well production was brought back on line quickly reducing deferment of production.”
With 70 staff operating out of 30 countries, the majority of Zenith’s workload comes from oil and gas operators and service companies working and drilling in the Middle and Far East.
Last year, Zenith invested over £1million in the development of new technology. The company currently has four patents with two pending. Greg Davie, Managing Director at Zenith: “The secret of our success is continually moving ahead in everything we do. By surrounding ourselves with talented people who are encouraged to push and not settle for second best, the directors are challenged to keep one step ahead.”
