Zenith Oilfield Technology has received a Royal accolade after winning a second Queen’s Award for Enterprise in an announcement today to mark the monarch’s birthday (21st April).

The Aberdeenshire company, which operates in the artificial lift sector of the global oil and gas industry, received the award for generating export sales which this month exceeded £75 million since start up in 2004, with plans to surpass £100 million in the coming year.

The announcement from the Queen’s Awards office congratulated Zenith on the outstanding achievement since first winning in 2009, growing international sales by 60% in the last two years while creating a further 20 local jobs.

It recognised the company for capitalising on research and development and dynamic marketing with Zenith investing more than £1.2 million last year in the development and commercialisation of groundbreaking technology now being used all over the world.

“We are honoured to receive this award which is testament to the hard work and commitment of the great team of people we have at Zenith. After winning in 2009, we are absolutely delighted to have been recognised again for our strides in international trade. Our big focus going forward is delivering the game-changing tools that will continue to take us into emerging oil and gas regions and investing in our growing team.”

Greg Davie, Managing Director

Zenith has attributed its growth to the increased need for its technologies as the search for hydrocarbons intensifies in fields with heavy oil and more mature basins. The company has achieved sales of its technology in North and South America, Europe, North and West Africa and the Middle and Far East.Mr Davie added:

"We reinvest substantial amounts of our profits back into the research arm of the business to help drive innovation and we also invest in our people. We have presented a number of technical papers at international events this year and our reputation continues to grow."

Formed in 2004, Zenith designs, develops, assembles and supports leading edge solutions related to the gathering and analysis of downhole data and the design of completions equipment.

Some of the trailblazing technology that has been developed includes ‘XT’, a system that monitors oil and gas well pressure and temperatures at up to 500 Celsius.

It has also pioneered ‘Z-Sight’ - a well surveillance tool that gathers crucial information from wells and processes it providing key data to well management teams enabling optimal oil recovery.

Through exhibiting their New Technology Showcase at international trade shows such as the Middle East Artificial Lift Forum and Society of Petroleum Engineer’s (SPE) Digital Energy Conference, Zenith’s international reach continues to expand. The next show Zenith is set to attend is the SPE ESP Workshop in Houston, 27 – 29 April (booths 2-3-4-5).
